Overtime Revenge

Rookie Cooper Jones celebrates his 1st career goal

Your Halifax Mooseheads got revenge on division rival Charlottetown Islanders on Tuesday night. It was an interesting evening at the Scotiabank Centre. The Islanders had a goal reviewed during a stoppage after the referees didn’t see the puck go in the net, Kevin Resop got an assist after gloving the puck and passing it to Joel Bishop, and Connor Moynihan played defense for a second time in the past week. Halifax jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Barrett Dachyshyn and Andrew Shewfelt but couldn’t hold it as Charlottetown tied it before the end of the first period. The Islanders eventually took a 5-3 lead with about 13 minutes left in regulation. Defenseman Cooper Jones scored his first of his career to close the gap and once again rookie Otto Somppi was clutch again, potting one with 14 seconds left sending the match to overtime. In OT, there was some back and forth than Resop made a glove save, held it for just a second, passed it to Joel Bishop in middle ice and broke in to give the Mooseheads revenge on Charlottetown.
