Moynihan’s Strike but Connor Gets Victory

shawingan gameDanny Moynihan and Cavan Fitzgerald arrived in Moose Country facing their former club for the first time but they couldn’t help the Shawinigan Cataractes beat the Halifax Mooseheads on Thursday night. For the second time this season, Halifax chased the opposing goaltender in the first period after scoring 3 goals on 7 shots despite Shawinigan controlling more of the play in the first 20 minutes. Danny Moynihan scored with 4:39 left to close the gap for Shawinigan to one goal but Mooseheads goalie Eric Brassard was zoned in once again and stopped some really nice shots. Brassard would go on to make 46 saves collecting his thirteenth win of the season. The game looked like it might get tied up in the last 10 minutes but with less than 2 to go, the Cataractes pulled their goalie and Halifax iced it with two empty net goals to send the fans home happy.
